Has it been a minute since you felt Relaxation?

It’s National Relaxation Day this week August 17th!

 

This is what I want to speak on today, what actually is relaxation?

 

Definition: The state of being free from tension and anxiety.

The action of making a rule or restriction less strict.

 

Big Question: When was the last time you felt free from tension and anxiety?

 

What I love is, that is a State of Being.

 

And I love to as my clients/yoga students how do you Choose to Be Today?

 

You get to choose how you are going to Be, each and every day.

 

So if you get to choose and you are inquiring when was the last time you felt Free from anxiety and tension, I am supposing you thinking it’s been quite some time since you felt this. That is just my estimated guess.

 

You are not alone. I too often feel either anxiousness or tension.

A number of things can cause me to feel these sensations:

1) Worry or fear of something with my business.

2) Worry or fear we don’t have everything we need for a trip we are taking as a family.

3) Worry or fear with something happening in my marriage.

4) Worry or fear of not doing or being enough as a human, as a wife, as a mom, as a friend..

 

Can you relate to any of this? If I can take a guess, you probably can relate to one thing I shared.

 

Worry and fear always take us away from the present moment and almost always cause us anxiety and tension.

 

But how do you and I get away from this: Awareness of the Present Moment

 

Let’s just simply go with the basics of 5:

1) What can I taste?

2) What do I hear?

3) What can I smell?

4) What do I feel?

5) What do I see?

 

From there you are brought to this moment, the present.

Worry and fear always bring you out of the present moment....the unknown.

 

So here you and I are getting ourselves all tense and anxious over something that isn’t real, true or factual.

 

From this awareness, I can then choose.

 

I can choose to feel good, peaceful, content in this moment because YOU CAN.

 

If you are alive and breathing in this moment, amen. Breathe in that state of Being Relaxation. Lean into it.

 

It’s available to me, for you, for us all.

 

Stay present in this moment. Once again it’s the only moment that matters. It’s the only moment that there is truth and knowing.

 

The truth will set you free. It will create freedom and relaxation for you.

 

You get to choose.

 

How will you choose?

 

Will you continue to keep yourself bound up with all that tension and anxiety leaving you to feel suffocated and unhappy?

 

Or will you begin to do the work of present moment awareness? Asking yourself the 5 things to bring you right here and now? And then from there you can ask choose to feel content, peaceful, relaxed in this moment.

 

Rinse, Lather and Repeat.

 

It takes effort. Yes. And don’t you want to feel better?
